Los Game Awards, lo más cercano que tiene la industria de los videojuegos a los Premios de la Academia de cine, están programados para el 3 de diciembre. Con solo tres semanas para el evento, se han anunciado los nominados para las 22 categorías.
Después de las categorías habituales que destacan los géneros, hay algunos cerca del fondo centrados en el lado de la comunidad en lugar del lado del desarrollo. Tres categorías están dedicadas a los eSports, con dos jugadores destacados y uno lleno de juegos de años (y sin mención de Liga de cohetes !). También está la categoría 'Trending Gamer', con un grupo de YouTubers, y 'Best Fan Creation', que busca modificaciones y proyectos de la comunidad.
Los nominados al juego del año incluyen From Software's Transmitido por la sangre Bethesda's Fallout 4 , Por producción Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain , Nintendo's Super Mario Maker y CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt .
